LeeCooks CHURCH presents: CULTURE SHOCK

Paseo Project presents an Open Call for BIPOC Artists

CULTURE SHOCK: A Juneteenth Weekend Celebration
June 17th, 18th and 19th, Day and evening events and happenings
Revolt Gallery (222 Paseo Del Pueblo Norte, Taos, NM 87571)

CHURCH is planning a festival for Juneteenth that they hope to solidify annually called, "Culture Shock." It is meant to bridge the gap between the indigenous people of the Pueblos of New Mexico and the indigenous peoples of Africa and The Caribbean. It is to uplift the non-indigenous and the post-slave; stripped from their indigenous past that have created an exclusive culture here in America. A niche all their own.

“Culture Shock” is a three day event, June 17th, 18th and 19th planned at the property of Revolt Gallery. The Paseo Project is collaborating with CHURCH to activate the weekend and are seeking proposals and recommendations for BIPOC artists throughout the region. To help create an atmosphere for the weekend and provide inspiration, we are seeking large scale installations, new media works, and performance art pieces by BIPOC artists. All works will be displayed outside. All types of media are welcome. Artists are welcome to consider the theme of “Taking up Space.” Works will be sited on the property of Revolt Gallery over the weekend, and emerging and professional artists are welcome. Stipends are available. There is a limited amount of space for 2D works indoors.

Please send your proposal via email to paseo@paseoproject.org with “Culture Shock submission” written in the subject line. There is no application fee and all proposals will be considered. Questions can also be directed to paseo@paseoproject.org

Best consideration date: April 30, 2022
