PASEO Party on the Plaza

September 23 @ 7:00 pm - 11:00 pm

| Free

The Paseo Project brings fire and monsters to the heart of historic Taos for a monumental – and free! – community art party.

Motomichi Nakamura, VJ mapping artist from Brooklyn NY, will collaborate with sound masters Kanizzle and Dubvirus to create a 4 hour sound and light experience, projecting his animated monster characters and abstract landscapes onto the facade of the historic Hotel La Fonda.

Artist Jamie Vaida, creator of Mutant Vehicles for Burning Man, will install Fire Tree and Flaming Pipe Organ in collaboration with Alvin Sessions. The two custom-crafted sculptures use fire and sound elements that react to audience input.

The Illuminator, returns to Taos for the second year. They are an art collective that emerged out of the Occupy Wall Street movement. In this installation, community members will voice their hopes for Taos from a tiny projection booth. Their visions will shine on adobe walls.

Silent Disco, curated by DJ Oliver, will merge three DJ booths, with 10 DJs, into 500 multi-channel headsets. Party-going dancers will enter alternate sensorial universes by switching to different cultural genres – electronica, Latin, native rap, Afro-pop and world music.
