Windows on the Future
July 1 - July 31
Windows on the Future will turns storefront and commercial windows into art installations and invites viewers to walk and drive by to see them from the sidewalk and street, working with temporarily closed spaces as well as active and vacant storefronts. This tri-city collaborative effort aims to bring vibrancy and vitality to Northern New Mexico’s commercial districts in these challenging times while also encouraging social distancing.
A Window on the Future is a series of month-long storefront art installations that will take place across Santa Fe, Albuquerque, and Taos. Vital Spaces, in partnership with 516 ARTS and The Paseo Project, launched this tri-city initiative accepting submissions from regional artists. To support the creative community financially during this difficult period, the organizations dispersed $500 stipend payments to 60 artists in late May. The installation timeline will be determined by the state’s public health guidelines. Windows on the Future will follow all state and city government restrictions and health recommendations with plans to begin installation during the first phase of eased restrictions.
