Pecha Kucha Night Taos Vol 30: PASEO 2019/Fall Arts Edition

Rapid pace, 20×20 presentations by PASEO 2019 and Taos Fall Arts artists. The term “Pecha Kucha” is Japanese, and refers to the sound of “chit chat.” The gist of Pecha Kucha is that presenters are given an opportunity to showcase and present 20 images of their work, with images changed every 20 seconds. Each artist’s presentation is 6 minutes and 40 seconds.

Volume 30 will feature live entertainment by Pope Trio, with intermission treats compliments of Wake and Take, Arroyo Seco’s newest eatery. Drinks will be available by the TCA with plenty of time for “chit chat” with local creatives.

Paseo Artist Talk: Caitlyn Au

Taos artist Caitly Au’s will discuss her installation for PASEO 2019, titled When Shouting Produces No Echo. It reinterprets the mid-autumn tradition of moon viewing with a series of small video projects. Tucked into the built environment and hidden in plain sight, the projections are non-spectacles. They do not solicit attention; rather, they are stumbled upon and discovered, engaging viewers’ sense of curiosity and delight.

Au’s work has been the subject of solo exhibitions at Hammerspace Gallery (Portland) and Saranac Art Projects (Washington), and was featured in group exhibitions at Spring/Break Art Show (New York) and Unnamed Gallery (New York). She has been an artist-in-residence at Art Farm Nebraska, Laboratory Spokane, and DongDong & LuLu China. In 2020 she will be an artist-in-residence at the Santa Fe Art Institute. Au holds a BFA in Glass from the Rhode Island School of Design.
