Ben Link Collins
Taos, New Mexico
“Before (Taos)” | Sound Installation
During his time in Taos, Collins made over 150 GB (~250 hours) of field recordings. Many of these recordings are of natural environments. For this sound installation he imagined Taos before people, before it was Taos. For PASEO 2014 Collins created an abstract musical piece utilizing the natural recordings as the central compositional elements.
The final composition affected an atmospheric and light aesthetic, or what he imagine as the spirit of what draws people, artists, and like-minded folks to Taos.
The running length was 2 hours.
