A colony of ants can accomplish great feats! I look at ants working together as a natural progression of what I learned working on Prima Materia, a project that was influenced by Carl Jung’s explanation of individuation, as becoming “aware of oneself, of one’s make-up, and the way to discover one’s true, inner self”. Creating with a large group of people on that project I developed the utmost respect and appreciation for people working together to create more advanced projects and mentalities. A good team can accomplish anything, if one can recognize and push their own skills and abilities.

This piece will have many different ways it can be experienced, lights on no flame, lights on with flame, flame only, and during the daytime so people can see the piece multiple times and not have it be the same. This will allow the piece to interact with participants visually and possibly mirror how their feelings are evolving during the event, making each experience unique.

Arcus will be a swell thing for people to take pictures under, and one of my favorite things to see after event is the continued inspiration in the community through our digital lives. I anticipate allowing many people to ponder the fire in their hearts, and continue pursuing what puts it there!

About the artist: 

Born of the Colorado Burning Man community, the Gammaspace Arist Collective is comprised of seasoned artists and production managers who have been creating large-scale art installations together for nearly half a decade. Their work has appeared at a number of festival including Apogaea, Sonic Bloom, South Park Music Festival, Arise, Unify, and Burning Man as well as at numerous venues in the Denver Metro Area including, Exdo Event Center, Casslemans, City Hall and The Oriental Theater.
