“Dream Within A Dream” | Immersive Dance Installation

To experience a dream, to daydream, to imagine, to have aspiration or hope. Dreams are things of waking and sleep. Organizing and creating from our daily thoughts, interactions, experiences, dreams inhabit our imagination. Imagination helps us visualize that which may not yet be in physical reality, considered vital to curiosity, innovation, leadership and emotional well-being. An in-between state, dreaming is a transitory space, and one that is recognized beyond boundaries or differences, everyone dreams of something.

This performance transforms a building’s portal into a passageway, a bridge between dreams and reality. As participants walk through, they are immersed in a soundscape composed of dream recitations—both those experienced in sleep and aspirations from the waking state—projected through small, hanging or surrounding speakers. Audiences are invited to contribute by recording their own dreams at a dream collection station during the evening festival, with their recordings added to the evolving dream choir throughout the performances.

Through movement, costuming, and a live sound installation featuring the dream choir, alongside acoustic and electronic instrumentation played by the dancers, the performance captures the vivid, otherworldly essence of the dream state and its influence on our waking life.
