Revolt Gallery, an artist-run space in Taos, is partnering with The Paseo Project to activate its venue as a hub for contemporary art and music during PASEO 2025. In addition to hosting exhibitions—featuring visiting artist Ori Carino from New York City—Revolt will curate live DJ performances and gatherings in collaboration with artists from Los Angeles and beyond. Revolt Gallery will also serve as a gathering space for pre- and post-festival events, creating opportunities for community engagement, artist meet-ups, and experimental music experiences that extend the festival’s energy into the night.
About: Since opening in 2017, Revolt Gallery has sought to offer a space for local, emerging, and underground artists to be heard in the Taos community. Revolt Gallery offers a reflection of New Mexico's unique and evolving cultural landscape through Taos' growing local talent, alongside a number of international artists who share a common vision. Revolt Gallery has transformed its historic downtown site into a dynamic, thriving facility for artistic exploration. With unique indoor and outdoor areas, Revolt Gallery hosts a variety of events and exhibits - from small to large-scale installations, immersive music, art, performances, and more. Revolt Gallery’s mission is to support artists from diverse backgrounds and elevate the voices of Black, Indigenous, People of Color, LGBTQIA+ people, and other underrepresented individuals. In the Shed: “Navigator of the Hidden Drifts “
Using language, ceramics, work on paper, sculpture and light. The unspooled rope and coil represent meaning, potential, and alternatives hidden throughout the visible and invisible realms.
The installation is one installment from an ongoing installation, “Navigators; On the Edges of Becomings”
“Navigators” is a mythopoetic shrine/installation Interspersed with diagrams, infograms, drawings and sculpture. Images are abstracted, vaguely recognizable with the intention to poetically make meaning and develop understanding.
Also to be available at Revolt Gallery will be works on paper and a special commemorative t-shirt.
Ori Carino
In the Gallery:
Ori Carino was born in a functioning art gallery loft on Houston st. Downtown Manhattan 1982. A life-long artist, He was raised among many pivotal artists of the 80s art movement of the Lower East Side. Carino painted with Keith Haring when he was 5, participated in performance photos by Toyo Tsuchiya, and had his first exhibition at NoSeNo with AiWeiWei and Kazako Miyamoto. Carino attended Cooper Union and Parsons high school programs, going on to complete studies in painting/installation at SMFA, Boston in 2005. In addition, he completed the Asian Classics Institute Masters program, followed by a 10 year study in traditional Tibetan painting with the master artist Pema Rinzin. Carino continues to make paintings, sculptures, and interdisciplinary experimental work, full time in his Manhattan art studio. He is working closely with VR/AR specialist, Mehow Skalski, developing digital sculptures and assemblage NFTs. Carino directs the archive/estate of the iconoclastic artist Toyo Tsuchiya, building Toyo’s archive and complete catalogue raisonne. He has made collaborative work with Toyo, Lee Quinones, and Benjamin Armas. His work has been exhibited internationally in galleries, art fairs, and institutions. Carino’s work is included in important collections in Europe, Asia, and the USA, including the Pao collection HK, the Venet Collection, and SUPREME NY.
