Earthlings” | Projection Experience

Earthlings is a projection piece displaying some often-forgotten earth inhabitants of the four legged and winged variety. The print art of local artists Luis Garcia, Sarah Hart, and Sarah Parker are animated to share the earth experience through light. In this piece you will watch block and screen prints come to life. The earthlings will dance, float, yawn, roar, and meander across the structure.  The viewer is invited to think about how different earthlings move and survive in this modern world.

Sarah Parker is an interdisciplinary artist moving between drawing, painting, and printmaking to audio-documentaries, interactive community art projects, and multimedia video installations. Parker’s work examines the complex relationships between ourselves and our environments, focusing on the tenderness and fragility of survival. These relationships may be in nature or in this modern capitalist society. Her work questions the biproducts of American capitalism, such as mass incarceration, gender expectations, and our ever-tenuous modern relationship with the land. With her art, Parker shows perspectives that are sometimes ignored or lost, our tender existence.

Luis Garcia Taos based artist, has been creating and honing his craft for the last 15 years, working on one of a kind studio jewelry and carvings for relief prints with equal passion.  His inspiration comes from his surroundings, the landscape, amazing daily sunsets, and the animals that call northern New Mexico their home. He owns and operates Coyote Moon, a local gallery that supports and shows local and international artists.

Sarah Hart is a forever artist who has moved from linoleum, paint, drawing, to screen printing in the most poetic ways possible. She acts as a graphic designer for many local and international entities. She started and runs an local artist collective called Ennui, having always been afraid of dying of boredom. Her art is inspired by the love from people who are no longer here lives in her art.
