“The Screamaton” | Interactive Installation

The Screamaton reimagines the traditional photo booth as an interactive  exploration of human expression and emotional release. Rather than  posing for a conventional photograph, participants engage in a cathartic  act of screaming into a hole, their vocal energy filling a digital gauge of  LEDs. As the intensity of the scream approaches its peak, it activates a  camera hidden at the base of the structure, capturing a fleeting moment  of visceral release. This performative interaction challenges participants  to confront their own boundaries, transforming a mundane act into a  symbolic expression of personal liberation and raw euphoria.

About the artist: Antonin Fourneau and Manuel Braun, both born in the 1980s, converged in art school, where their shared passion for interactive experiences sparked a fruitful collaboration. Drawing inspiration from popular culture, their innovative artwork transforms everyday objects into playful installations. While maintaining individual pursuits—Fourneau excelling in interactive light installations and Braun as a prolific portrait photographer—they came together for their latest project, Screamaton. This creation combines light, microphone, and camera to freeze moments of joy on people’s faces.
