PlayScape | 2025 Paseo Project Artist in Residence
In an era of constant change and uncertainty, our ability to adapt, explore, and reimagine our world is more critical than ever. PlayScapes is an immersive, interactive installation that transforms repurposed materials into dynamic environments for play, exploration, and community engagement. Through this work, Paseo Project AIR Fellow, Taylor Agiovlasitis (aka Tagio), challenges the ways we associate with our surroundings and each other, encouraging agility, creativity, and resilience.
This marks the first artist residency based at Hotel Willa, an exciting new chapter for The Paseo Project’s commitment to fostering creative dialogue in Taos. Through the duration of the residency, Agiovlasitis will not only build a PlayScape installation but also open their studio to the public, transforming the residency into an evolving, participatory experience. Through a series of open studios and interactive events, visitors will be invited to engage with the creative process—exploring material reuse, adaptability, and the power of play firsthand.
The installation itself will be constructed using salvaged and repurposed materials—reframing discarded objects as tools for connection and discovery. Workshops will invite participants to take part in hands-on art-making, from crafting magnetic elements to experimenting with new forms of engagement. These free events will also introduce the community to Hotel Willa as a new gathering space for art, conversation, and creative exchange.
More than just a physical structure, PlayScapes are conceptual spaces—one that asks us to rethink how we interact with uncertainty. Rather than escaping or dissociating, it invites us to reshape our relationships, both internally and externally. By fostering play as a means of exploration and transformation, this project offers new pathways for creativity, learning, and community resilience.
About
Taylor Agiovlasitis (AKA Tagio) is a multidisciplinary artist whose work explores the intersections of play, material reuse, and interactive engagement. With a background in experiential education, sustainability, and creative adaptation, Taylor’s practice transforms salvaged materials into immersive installations that invite exploration and reimagination. Their work challenges conventional ideas of consumption and permanence, fostering curiosity and connection through dynamic, participatory environments.
Taylor holds a BFA from New Mexico Highlands University and has exhibited widely, with projects spanning printmaking, sculpture, performance art, and large-scale interactive installations. Their deep understanding of materiality—gained through years of hands-on work in specialty construction, climbing gym design, and program development—shapes a practice rooted in both craftsmanship and conceptual inquiry. Whether through public art interventions or site-specific installations, Taylor’s work encourages audiences to engage, adapt, and discover new ways of seeing and interacting with the world around them.
Community Engagement & Workshops
As part of his residency, Tagio will open their creative process to the community, hosting interactive workshops and open studios.
