Twirl

Taos, New Mexico

“Sock Tales” | Interactive Installation

Have you ever wondered where your missing socks go? Do they vanish into the great unknown, or are they secretly waiting for their chance to become something magical and socktastic!? Twirl invites you to cross the threshold between reality and imagination by transforming those lonely, lost soles into playful puppet friends!

Puppeteering is the ultimate threshold-crossing act—where lifeless objects suddenly spring to life, creators become storytellers, and audiences suspend disbelief to step into fantastical worlds. This project invites participants to explore the magic of transformation, movement, and narrative as they play at the edge of imagination and reality.

On the nights of the Paseo, visitors will be invited to craft their own unique sock puppets using colorful and creative materials. They will be invited to interact with their sole sisters and brothers on multiple puppet stages in Twirl’s courtyard, turning the space into a vibrant, ever-changing (and totally fun!) storytelling adventure.
