About the artist: Mari Hidalgo King is a first generation, Puerto Rican-American, raised in Dallas, whose identity to her island culture reveals itself in her adoration for textiles, natural environments and vibrant communal energy. Textiles reimagined at scale release a freedom of exploration and feeling of awe. Standing among one of Hidalgo King’s sculptures leaves a lasting impression, as one’s energy is heightened and connections to the subject are deepened by the shared experience. With design studies at Parsons School of Design and two decades working in creative, visual industries this artist is dedicated to using her craft to highlight societal systems affecting our environment and interspecies’ success.
