August 8 - October 31, 2025
Josh Tafoya is a textile artist born and raised in the American Southwest that works within the concepts of his Spanish, Genizaro, Chicano heritage. Furthering his home's traditional craft. A reflection of his New Mexican home’s rich textile history. Coming from a Ranching grandfather and a Weaving grandmother, brought him full circle. Infusing his knowledge of traditional Spanish loom weaving, with his experience in New York Fashion. Always exploring old and new techniques into his weaving's and garments, each taking ideas from the other influencing the process. Keeping old traditions alive, and furthering a continuing conversation of New Mexican heritage and craft. A new vision of “American Fashion” and a reclamation of the “Southwestern Look”.

On Site: The Artisans of Hotel Willa
May - July 2025
ON SITE: The Artisans of Hotel Willa is the inaugural show at the new Gallery at Hotel Willa. This group show features a selection of contemporary artists who have had their hands in creating the new Hotel Willa, located at the former Indian Hills Motel. The exhibition shares the talent and skills of artists, artisans, and craftspeople who have helped shape the construction of Hotel Willa. The show not only includes the artists who contributed to the art located on the walls, but the artisans who contributed to the plumbing, security, restaurant, and the construction of the new 51 room hotel located just south of the Plaza at 233 Paseo Del Pueblo Sur.
FAQs
Exhibition Proposals:
The gallery is curated by The Paseo Project and features rotating exhibitions by local and regional artists. While we don’t have a formal submission policy, we do welcome exhibition proposals and appreciate learning about the work of artists and curators in our community.
If you’re interested in sharing an idea for a future show, feel free to send along:
A brief curatorial statement or concept for the proposed exhibition
A short list of artists you’d include (this can be tentative), with a few images or links to their work
Any ideas for public programming that could accompany the show (e.g., workshops, talks, or activations)
While we may not be able to respond to every submission, we’ll keep proposals on hand and will reach out if a future opportunity aligns.
Please send inquiries to paseo@paseoproject.org
A few things to keep in mind:
The Gallery at Hotel Willa is a non-traditional exhibition space that also serves as an events space. It's currently staffed/open on Friday - Sunday, noon - 5pm, with hours adjusted for maximum impact. Guest curators are welcome to gallery sit/staff as they wish.
Shows need to be installed for a minimum of 5 months. Together with Hotel Willa, we'll help promote them through our networks.
While we don’t have a large exhibition budget, The Hotel and Paseo Project can often assist with support depending on the needs, funding and partnerships.
Sales run through the front desk at the Hotel. Hotel asks for 40% of sales.
While guest curators will have creative freedom in developing their show, final curatorial approval — including layout, hanging, and installation decisions — will be made in collaboration with The Paseo Project and Hotel Willa staff to ensure alignment with the space and our shared vision.
